Located in a city-owned, heritage fire station built in 1906, The Firehall’s intimate black box studio theatre along with its outdoor courtyard performance area and its rehearsal studio has served to support innovative, eclectic, and often politically-charged theatre productions as well as exquisite, cutting-edge dance and music performances. The Firehall is proud to support emerging and established performing artists and companies, and strives to program work that is inclusive, culturally rich, and reflective of the many voices and perspectives in Canada.
Working in conjunction with the Firehall’s contract publicist and onsite Marketing Coordinator, the Marketing Director’s primary responsibilities include:
• Developing and promoting the public profile of the theatre and its productions, ensuring productive relations with audiences, the media, the community and other partners;
• Maintaining and expanding the company’s profile in the public realm and generating interest in the company’s projects;
• Supervision of all forms of electronic marketing including website, e-newsletter, e-marketing initiatives, and social media channels;
• Working with and overseeing the Marketing Coordinator to assure the Firehall’s digital offerings are consistent and in-brand;
• Conceptualizing with Senior Staff all marketing, communication and promotional campaigns and ensuring their implementation. This would include providing input into the design and execution of all print and digital promotional materials;
• Ensuring that public and private funder recognition as deemed appropriate and agreed upon is fulfilled with regard to all marketing initiatives and marketing materials;
• Assisting in maintaining the ongoing conversation with current patrons and cultivating new and diverse audiences (including periodic surveys of audiences);
• Monitoring marketing plans, timelines, budgets and schedules.
The ideal candidate will have a passionate commitment to theatre and dance and a genuine interest in the work of the Firehall Arts Centre. A minimum five years’ experience in arts marketing is required and relevant post-secondary education in Marketing or Arts Administration desirable. The Firehall is an equal opportunity employer interested in positive, creative candidates who bring a new perspective to a wonderful team.
